Gemelli by Strada Italiano
A HIVE Collective Collaboration
Opening its doors in September 2022 in Asheville, North Carolina, Gemelli is a modern-day Italian trattoria, infused with elements of a new world alimentari, that serves those looking to slow down as well as those in a hurry to get home. By acting as a gathering spot, Gemelli aims to connect customers with one another while also connecting consumers to local vendors through thoughtfully curated products and freshly prepared foods. A handsome setting for a client meeting, casual enough to visit with family and friends, Gemelli provides a sense of belonging through a relaxed indoor lounge area and a welcoming piazza where customers can greet new and familiar faces passing by. HIVE’s goal was to create an environment that supports and inspires the owner, their staff, and their customers. Custom built-ins maximize seating and add functionality to structural columns while custom textiles and upholstery provide warmth and acoustic quality. With flexibility and atmosphere in mind, HIVE Collective seamlessly combined zones for ordering, retail, dining, and lounging within a space that can easily transition to private events.
Linsey’s Scope
-
In collaboration with HIVE Collective, Linsey and creative colleagues specialize in retail, restaurant, medical, and hospitality design. Passionate about innovative solutions and appreciative of unique talents, they push the limits of design by introducing thoughtful details that create harmonious experiences. Through a boutique approach, clients are provided with a new or refreshed environment designed in a beautifully functional way, keeping in mind the space, the brand, and the people connected to it.
-
Sourcing her educational and professional training, Linsey offers two-dimensional and three-dimensional interior and exterior renderings to architects, builders, developers, designers, and product manufacturers. Skilled in both digital and hand-drafting techniques, detailed drawings and artful vignettes are highly effective visual aids for these professionals when proposing their design intent to clientele, investors, and fabricators.
-
Extending beyond your basic signage, this layered service merges graphic design, architecture, art, lighting, landscaping, and other fields to enhance the user experience of an interior or exterior space. Well-designed environmental graphics – sometimes referred to as experiential graphics – successfully accomplishes three things:
Communicates information – where a visitor is physically situated within the space and why, where in that space they need/want to go, and how to find their way there
Communicates identity – who’s space are they in, what kind of experience they can expect
Connects people to place – what experience are they associating with their time in that space, and what makes them want to return
This highly customized service encompasses distinct but overlapping areas of focus including way-finding systems and placemaking, retail display, exhibition design, mural design, branded spaces, and more, and typically incorporate marketing and advertising efforts.
To offer creative, safe, and accessible solutions, Linsey references her education, experiences, and skill sets in building design and general construction, codes and regulations, fabrication practices, material performance, and interior and graphic design.
-
Typically referring to mass-manufactured items such as paper goods and apparel, Linsey offers illustration and custom surface pattern design as a unique way to expand brand identity and messaging from thoughtful accents across print and digital materials to custom wallpaper or upholstery for a place of business.
