Combining charcoal and pastel on birch, Breathe Now is Linsey’s largest charcoal piece to date—the scale presenting a new level of learning to surrender to the medium. Like her other charcoal on wood pieces, this one also embraces the more solemn moments across WNC’s landscape. Austere and temperate yet comforting and unafraid of the uncertainty ahead. What’s behind the tall, wind-tangled grasses? Does a trail exist or will you have to forge your own path?

Combining charcoal and pastel on birch, Beyond the Balsams is Linsey’s first piece since Hurricane Helene. Like finding one’s way through the fog or an unmarked trail, slightly unpredictable mediums challenge perfectionism and embrace uncertainty. Marks made in angst that, together, draft a vision of calm, reminding us that some of life’s most beautiful discoveries are made through moments of discomfort and difficulty.
